Spring weather has forced a change of plans for visitors to Pancake Bay Provincial Park. Originally set to open on May 2, 2025, the park will now welcome campers on May 16, 2025, due to flooding caused by heavy rain, melting snow, and persistent ice cover.
In an update on SooToday, Ontario Parks announced that Pancake Bay will now open on May 16, 2025. The delay is due to heavy spring rains, localized flooding, and sections of the park still covered in snow and ice.
In a public statement, Ontario Parks noted:
“Due to heavy spring rain, localized flooding and continued snow and ice coverage, Pancake Bay Provincial Park has delayed the park opening date to May 16, 2025. All affected campsite reservation holders have been contacted and offered a full refund or the opportunity to change their reservation without any penalty. We are monitoring conditions daily and will reopen Pancake Bay Provincial Park as soon as it is safe to do so.”
This is a proactive step to ensure that visitors can enjoy the park safely once conditions improve.
